For those who endeavor.

"Anything For Miles" is your statement of intent.

Whether you run, cycle, or swim, you’re chasing the elusive endurance miles. Moms and Dads alike get it—you've got to get the miles in, no matter what. Maybe it's a 5AM ride in the morning, a quick jaunt in between work meetings, or a night time workout on the trainer, you're doing anything for miles.

In this podcast, we explore what it means to Moms and Dads who endeavor to get the miles in—part-time endurance warriors & full-time parents—their strategies for balancing being a spouse and parent, the highs & lows, what the phases of parenting while cycling look like over time, and everything in between. Join in on the show to hear from everyday folks, like you, who do their darnedest to get the miles in.

Mike Puglielli

Mike Puglielli has his moments on the bike. He rose to no fame, has a slightly above average FTP, & is known for his bright blue Canyon around town. Mike began cycling on the cusp of the post-pandemic draw, seeking an alternative to his normal endeavor of foot miles. And bikes got him hook, line, and sinker. He occasionally grunts about the cost of cycling, some of its elitist culture, and the time it takes to get a notable workout in, but the love affair, like many, shines strong.

After launching his local bike club NAACC, Mike began meeting amazing moms and dads on his rides who sought the elusive miles as he did. Tight schedules—balancing work, kid activities and sports, life, time with spouses—the list goes on. How’d they manage it all? Mike wanted to sit with them. Talk a little shop. See how they made time to get the work in. He thought maybe you’d like to hear what they have to say. That’s the Anything For Miles podcast.

An avid cycler who got his bike appetite wet during his triathlon days. David shares his experience as he adjusts to new numbers on the Garmin and he manages his own expectations with age. We talk about cycling as a dad, but also what it means as a spouse—and how to bring your partner along for the rides. As a cardiologist, David shares what he has told his patients about health and fitness before retiring, with keys to happiness and health involving "routined" fitness. David is disciplined and methodical in his training with every ride having a clear purpose towards his goal.

In this episode on the Anything For Miles cycling podcast, host Mike Puglielli sits down with Steve Miller who is a practical KOM legend here in the Andover’s proper. We talk about cycling as a dad, where you find time to get the miles in, and a funny story where Steve literally puts down his kid to win back a local KOM. Zone 2 be damned, Steve talks about having fun biking by going hard, letting go of the heart rate metrics... and breaking a lot of bikes along the way.

“I tell my patients: you have to routinize it.”
